Andy Curran's paintings appear somewhat like dream imagery—muted, soft focus meditations on the harmony inherent in our natural surroundings. "There is harmony in nature, a unity that we are a part of, which is easily overlooked in today's hectic world," asserts Curran. "As a painter, I try to capture the nuances of nature: the subtle play of light on a sapling, the fluidity of water, the cycle of life that is embodied in the turn of the seasons."

Described in quiet, earthy colors and warmed by a diffuse light, Curran's landscapes speak gently, as if to entice the viewer to slow down, breath, and enjoy the pause that refreshes. "I want for the viewer to feel like a participant in my paintings and remember their own connections to the natural world," he states.

Curran earned his B.A. at the University of Southern Maine. His works have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibits. Curran is also the owner and designer for Dog Star Creations, a card line he launched in 1993.
